Item #1 History of Bradford Woods network
Initially, the school system had subcontracted the renovation of the network at Bradford Woods, but unfortunately, the job was signed-off without appropriate quality assurance. The physical network of the Bradford Woods is copper level 3 with RJ-11 and RJ-45 termination. The current network in the system is ethernet with a Powermac File Server (Model 6150/66) which is acting as a work group server. There is a Synoptics Latticnet Model 2800 router supporting ethernet network.
Item #2 Description of current plans and contacts to upgrade to T-1 access
The current goal is to replace the two Synoptic hubs with either a Fore Systems router or a Cisco router. The goal is to have a fractional T-1 CIR 384 bytes/sec line. The T-1 line will actually run to the new router and the network will run TCP IP and IPX within the building. The timeframe for doing this connection is somewhere between February and March and the contacts will be disposed by Linda Kamzelski from North Pittsburgh Telephone Company, Fore Systems and the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.
Item #3 Miscellaneous Items
The approximate charges for the Bradford Woods network will be approximately $380 per month for the fractional T-1 which will be installed by North Pittsburgh Telephone Company and of note, they were using Catalink for cabling and equipment of their Mac's and PC's at the school. This is an outsourcing cabling company and their web development tools of choice are Pagemail by Adobe and another unspecified Claris.
