and Mike Becich at Nauticom offices in Gibsonia

April 1, 1997

We met with Mark Steward and Sam Hopkins. Mark Steward is the Vice President of Pinnatech, a North Pittsburgh systems company at 400 Gibsonia Road, Gibsonia, PA 15044-9311. Mark's personal number is: 412-449-4600; 800-746-6283; Fax 412-449-4659; email: mes@nauticom.net; URL for Nauticom is http://www.nauticom.net.

Sam Hopkins, Communications Manager at Pinnatech; : 412-449-4600; 800-746-6283; Fax 412-449-4659; email: sph@nauticom.net

At the meeting, Sam Hopkins and Mark Steward verified that the network router that Black Box has kindly offered to donate will be sufficient for providing frame relay dedicated T1 access to Bradford Woods Elementary.

Connection of T1 to Nauticom ISP - It was determined that the current North Pittsburgh telephone systems installed Westell optical fiber T1 termination was pointed at Allegheny Intermediate Unit. This was reassigned to Nauticom as they will be the Internet service provider for this project.

Connectivity between Nauticom and Bradford Woods Elementary - Mark Steward agreed to provide the connectivity which has an approximate market value of $500 for the initial install and $250 per month rate for maintaining the connection new line.

Establishment of accounts for users at Bradford Woods Elementary - Dave Edmunds and Mike Becich offered that there were approximately 35 classrooms and 25 other devices in the library and training center that would require IP addresses. Mark Steward agreed to assign a FCC class C license (128 users) with IP addresses to the Bradford Woods domain. These will allow email accounts as well as up to a megabyte (Mb) of disc space for storage of email on Nauticom server

Assignment of IP addresses and accounts to users at Bradford Woods Elementary - Dave Edmunds and Mike Becich agreed to work with the Bradford Woods Elementary to assign the approximately 100 email accounts to the users at Bradford Woods Elementary. This will be done by collecting last name, first name, address, Social Security Number, mother's maiden name and having the users identify a user login name. Nauticom will supply the password. The form will be developed and distributed to all of the teachers at Bradford Woods Elementary and then hand carried to Nauticom's offices by Mike Becich who lives in Bradford Woods.

The discussion also centered on how we might help provide necessary exposure for Nauticom in this process to help better advertise and make recognition for the donations that they are giving. Mike Becich suggested that Mark Steward provide a breakdown of all of the costs associated with setting up this service so that for future cost sharing grants a solid idea of the amount financial commitment that Nauticom is making is understood by all of the parties. This will be used for fundraising from other companies as the fundraising efforts continue to deploy. There was also demonstrated that the new Web address for Bradford Woods Elementary home page: http://firm06.pathology.pitt.edu/bw/ now contained at the bottom of the page the folks who are responsible for sponsoring this site. The suggestion was made that the corporate sponsorship identifiers be standardized upon a 640x480 resolution screen setup as the current logos are off the page when run in 800x600 resolution and higher. This will be adjusted and corrected as soon as possible.

The meeting concluded with the discussion of how quickly we might setup these accounts and the rate limiting factors collecting the account information and getting the accounts setup at Nauticom which will be a manual process. The connectivity should be completed within the next two weeks once the router is secured from Black Box.

Applying for domain name for Bradford Woods Elementary
Mark Steward and Dave Edmunds discussed getting a domain name for Bradford Woods Elementary. It was clear the Linda Kamzelski at the North Allegheny School District will have to be contacted with the domain names and IP addresses that we get and can be eventually replaced easily without interruption of services to the fully implemented North Allegheny School District plan. Dr. Becich and Ron Yori will contact Linda Kamzelski and relay the information by email to Dave Edmunds about the domain name services. Since there is a $50 fee associated with getting a domain name service, we will directly bill Bradford Woods Elementary account for this amount.
