The discussion centered around the following items:
- Dr. Becich discussed the need for an up-to-date e-mail list. He still needs addresses for Ann Miner, Hank McCarthy and Bud Trimmer.
- Classroom wiring will be done Monday evening, December 8, 1997 starting at approximately 5:30 pm. Dr. Becich will bring four technicians to assist with the wiring. A final jack count is needed. Mr. Wirth will bring all the necessary materials. Dr. Becich will bring some punch tools. It was suggested that walkie talkies would be a helpful communication tool. The school has a set available. The paging system could also be used. Dave Edmonds and Barb Schmid will work with Nauticom to assign account names for the classroom e-mail as soon as they are wired.
- Mr. Reed Powell has discussed a possible equipment grant from Hewlett Packard. Two lists are needed: a list of our immediate needs and a longer list which will be included in a proposal to be presented to Hewlett Packard. This proposal is to be written by Barbara Schmid, Ron Perry and Debra Somerhalder. Prerequisites for the grant include:
- Volunteer effort - already in progress
- Access to the Community - Sr. Citizen classes will be taught in January
- Access to Business
- The need for a server would be our #1 priority.
- The district is buying an ethernet card for Mrs. Somerhalder. It was suggested that they also increase the memory in her computer. The Board is also going to look into getting new PCs for Sue Hubert and Ruthie Demianczyk so they can be on the Internet.
- Barb Schmid mentioned that the budget has funds for the T1 charges until February, 1998. Mike Becich will continue to work on fund raising.
- Our Home Page needs to be updated. Fang He will work on bringing it up to date. Any info Fang needs should be e-mailed to him. Fang will also instruct Mary Pat Traversari on how to use the scanner so that documents can be scanned and e-mailed to Fang on a regular basis in order to keep the Home Page up to date.
- The next Internet Board meeting will be scheduled in December.
