The original "ARPANET" was launched in 1969, and would enable re-routing to another destination if one route failed.
The "Web" added the following capabilities to the Internet:

INTERNET INFORMATION ACCESS/EXCHANGE METHODS
WWW - Multimedia Information Service
E-Mail - Send & receive messages
Telnet - Remote computer uses program on a host computer
FTP - Direct method of data transfer
Gopher - Methods for searching internet for specific info
WHAT'S IN AN INTERNET WEB ADDRESS?

Server - the institution, organization, or company whose computer is being accessed |

When typing an address, pay close attention to spelling, punctuation, and spacing. One misplaced dot can send you to a dead end on the web
If you see the letters URL at the begining of an address, that indicates it's a Web Site. You don't need to type URL.
