Introduction

A Plan for Staff In-Service Session NET SURFING WITH NETSCAPE

The Options Menu
The Options menu is the place where you can customize Netscape to suit your own tastes and computer configuration.

These are the commands you'll find under the Options menu, and what they do:

General Preferences - This command opens the Netscape Preferences Window. Inside that window is a pull-down menu which brings up various configuration screens. Some of the Preference windows also allow you to provide personal data for using mail, newsgroups, and other features. For details on setting preferences, check the Netscape Handbook on The Options Menu.

Show Toolbar - This command toggles the Toolbar buttons along the top of the Netscape window on and off. Try selecting this to see what it does, and then select it again to bring the toolbar back. You might want to use this if you want to gain extra viewing space in the Netscape Window. All the commands in the toolbar can also be accessed through the pull down menus.

Show Location - This command toggles the Location Box on and off. In the picture of the Netscape screen we use in this tutorial, the Location Box is showing and the Directory Buttons are not showing. The default configuration for Netscape has the Location Box hidden and the Directory buttons showing.

Show Directory Button - This command toggles the Directory Buttons buttons under the Toolbar on and off. These are links to useful pages maintained by Netscape, about Netscape. You can also get at ail these pages under the Directory menu.

Autoload Images - This command toggles the Autoload Images feature on and off. When the feature is on, images load automatically. When off, images can be loaded selectively by clicking on the image placeholder or can be loaded all at once by choosing the Load Images command under View.
